Message from the Convenor

Convenor’s message

Kia ora koutou

I think it is a great privilege and honour to be not only part of the Kaikohekohe Education Network (KEN) but to also be the Convenor.

My role as convenor is similar to a lead principal but our network is such a collaborative and collegial one that I am mostly responsible for ensuring our meetings take place and people are kept informed.

We hold lead teacher and principal meetings every term, as well as professional development groups and writing and maths moderation with all teachers from all our schools each term. Other important events include our annual Movie Festival and E-Symposium.

My role also involves meeting with the other convenors of the Manaiakalani Outreach networks from all over Aotearoa. Our involvement with Manaiakalani has resulted in fundamental changes to our pedagogy, learning opportunities and professional development. We are very lucky to have the opportunity to work with future focussed, like minded leaders, teachers and schools. It is exciting!

I remain extremely grateful to our Kaikohekohe Education Trust for their ongoing commitment to education in our community as well as supporting our schools. Without them we could not have achieved, nor continue to achieve, improved outcomes for our students, whanau and staff.

We are on an exciting journey together. We provide quality education where students own their learning and are prepared for their future. Parents and whanau have access to their child’s education all the time. Learning is visible and is available to all stakeholders anywhere, anytime.

If you would like to know more or see us in action feel free to contact me or any of our schools.

He waka eke noa.
