2025 KEN Orientation - Thursday 23rd January
Kerry Boyde-Preece is the Manaiakalani Secondary Specialist. She primarily works alongside high school principals, school leaders and their teachers to successfully implement the Manaiakalani programme.
Kerry is a trained secondary school teacher, specialising in Digital Technologies with Visual Art and Design. She recognised early on in her teaching career that in a world where change is inevitable, digital literacy and fluency become critical in developing students’ capacity for personal success. Emphasising her aptitude for future-focused learning, led Kerry to pursue a Post Graduate in E-Learning and Digital Technologies, followed by a Masters of Education. Having a sound pedagogical background and understanding for effective learning in digital environments has enabled Kerry to support both teachers and students to become competent and capable utilising 21st century skills.
Monika is the Kaikohekohe PLD facilitator for Manaiakalani, she has worked across a range of education related roles in Northland for the last 28 years.
With a teaching background spanning from early learning all the way to adult professional learning, Monika's special focus is to ensure that our ākonga have access to high quality learning experiences regardless of their location or any socio-economic barriers. Over the years, she has supported teachers to examine their effective use of digital technologies and to implement the Digital Technologies curriculum content, and she also has a thorough understanding of local curriculum and teaching about our histories.
Monika is working alongside kaiako across our Kaikohekohe schools and supports them to apply the Manaiakalani pedagogy in their classrooms, so that ākonga become connected, life-long learners in a digital world.
